After completing the initial design and feasibility process, the groundwork and preparation for the suitable helipad at the Army Hospital in Bandar Abbas began. The standard measures and load-bearing capacity were tested and fully implemented in a practical manner. Additionally, the lighting lines or guiding lights were installed. Notably, the process of standard roughness and marking of the runway was conducted with operational tests at the designated location for the helipad of the Army Hospital in Bandar Abbas, with the usual meticulous attention to detail.
What is a Helipad?
Helipads are areas for helicopter landing, takeoff, and parking used for operations under VFR conditions, in emergencies, or for special applications, including HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Services), HERFS (Helicopter Emergency Rescue and Firefighting Services, such as hospital operations, road, high-rise buildings, etc.), and HOGIS (Helicopter Oil and Gas Inspection Services). These may be used for extended periods or for other applications such as external cargo (Sling), seismic surveys, and difficult-to-access mountainous areas, among others. These areas only follow a limited number of heliport standards. The standards referred to include the latest ICAS 111, Volume 2 of Annex 11 of ICAO, ICAO Document 1221 (with priority given in this order), and other relevant standards, circulars, or guidelines issued by the organization regarding heliports.
